  1. Wow! Though I confess to being a huge fan of later Wittgenstein (post-Tractatus, after his turn). I think his advocacy of philosophy as linguistic therapy is still applicable to most branches of metaphysics and the mostly odiferous “postmodern” and “deconstructionist” movements, with certain exceptions. As far as the analytic tradition goes, Bernard Williams is in my opinion the perfect balance between analytic rigor and skepticism on one hand, and Continental innovation on the other.

    • Ethics & the Limits of Philosophy is a masterpiece. No more morally astute voice than that of Bernie Williams, If by linguistic therapy you mean sharpening philosophic language, I’m with you. But I was never quite sold on the notion that abstract concepts ARE what prevailing language says they are.
