the mind’s eye is no mystic metaphor
and blindspot no figure of speech
blankness patterns our every optical disc
such that eyes cannot truthfully
see a whole picture
but consciousness blissfully lives
unaware of this void in our visual field
because subconscious mind fills the hole
with an image invented supposing
what ought to be there
perception forever in thrall to
a partial reality
perspective foreshortened no
matter in shadow or light
all that is learned always less than
accessibly knowable
limits affixed upon rational reason
breached only by fervent faith

Mind/brains see what eyes pass ..for the lens can only pass the rays.
What I see, is what my brain tells me..some times the truth full or half
That is why…we are told to look and not just to see..for eyes only transfers but brain
will decide for me.

Nicely stated, Paul. I often wonder if there is a way to know anything with any degree of accuracy.

Nice poem Paul. I have always found perception an interesting subject. Those “fill in the blank” moment are why I need a proofreader for my work. 🙂

I really really like this one today–been pondering the way I view things, the reality that I miss a LOT, or maybe just see them askew.

I KNOW that I miss a lot – but it doesn’t seem to bother me all that much anymore

Maybe we’re missing a lot of the negatives–that would be a help.
