I remember you horn dogging
cheap-perfumed ingénues
whistling your sharkskin
cockaded with swagger
through giggling estrogen
true to the motto of
love ‘em and leave ‘em
cool pocket-combed hair
and that cinema chin cleft
cut teachable moments
through ponytailed squadrons
of pom-poms and pulchritude
wreckage remaining
for better men’s hands
to pick up and set right
I heard of your weddings
but not your divorces
and can’t help but wonder
through all of those years
did you ever imagine
that I’d be the only one
here at your grave
grieving not so much you
as the waste of a life
Ok, I’m impressed. This is powerful.

It’s a frequently asked question–the answer would likely be a long boring psychologist’s session notes. Short answer: sometimes I just don’t like “me”–so getting a new blog is free and painless therapy. Gotta love WordPress. Thanks for following–I’ll put you on my reader so that I can keep up, wherever/whomever I am on a given day!

Beautiful poem with powerful imagery at the end. And once again you’ve sent me searching my online dictionary. This time to confirm the definition of ‘pulchritude’, and once again the word is a perfect fit. Well done.
