    Didn’t that always make raking the yard twice well worth it?


  2. I loved this. It touched my childhood when I would walk in my local woods with my mother and throw myself into the pile of fallen autumn leaves. I would love to be able to do this now but I fear at this time, at my age, I may never get up again! Thanks for the memory.

  3. A landmark poem! Since we’ve progressed to blowing leaves into the street, I suspect that raking them into a pile is history, no longer begging reckless youth to leap and be absorbed by their earthiness.
