when the fire runs out of rage
smoke perpetuates the sin
making breathing the penance
while the conscience is left
to smolder and mourn
what was burned
when the fire runs out of rage
smoke perpetuates the sin
making breathing the penance
while the conscience is left
to smolder and mourn
what was burned

You are very welcome, Paul. I read the words out to my son (a 20 year old…engrossed in reading a football article on the computer) and his reaction was – ‘wow’. My son dabbles in poetry and writing too and I am glad that he was around (on vacation from the Uni) for me to share it with him 🙂 Thank you once again.

Frustration expressed as anger seldom gets us closer to our goals, even when we lash out at the ‘right’ person.

A lesson I have not yet learnt, I must admit. Your poem reminded me that we only punish ourselves when we give ourselves over to anger. Wonderful piece of work
