  1. Reblogged this on 21 Shades of Blue and commented:
Elizabeth Barret Browning’s last 4 lines of “The Autumn” somewhat mirror the first 4 of my “Wildflower Love” and your poem and the painting made me think of it, and see it more clearly. I had read her poem before I wrote my own, but hadn’t consciously meant to make them so similar. Anyways, beautiful sad poem and combinatorial creativity Paul — I love your work!

    “Come autumn’s scathe — come winter’s cold —
Come change — and human fate!
    Whatever prospect Heaven doth bound,
    Can ne’er be desolate.”

“Autumn scathed by ashen fawn rains, shade-sought beneath Fall burned Maples,
foxglove-choked, gagging on ghost smoke in false-love mirrors of today-morrows
decay-scented Corpse Flower, cremated by Ashy Sunflower, turned yesterday’s
meadow fallow, let go to follow a gold wildflower road to an old lone Willow grove”

  2. Didn’t the Buddha say something like that?

“Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumor; nor upon what is in a scripture; nor upon surmise; nor upon an axiom; nor upon specious reasoning; nor upon a bias towards a notion that has been pondered over; nor upon another’s seeming ability; nor upon the consideration, ‘The monk is our teacher.'”
