hate so hungry for holocaust
infidel flesh blood and bone
insufficient to satisfy specious
pretensions to doctrines of
muslim haram pre-Muhammadan
relics of civilized culture must
die disappear be denied all
acknowledgement cleansing
the caliphate evil distilled to a
purity only the cruelest dull mind
could enjoy wreak destruction
tear down the fine totems of
sculptured antiquity smash the
stone brains of the mesopotamian
kings who gave order to chaos
run bulldozers through cherished
remnants of cities erected when
human society first stood emergent
from primitive infancy burn every
manuscript scroll with its record
of organized thought the ideas
who were seeds of philosophy
science mathematics and art
erase every trace of men’s seminal
history hold to your fictions your
brutalized bargains of malpracticed
faith make your world upon ruin
of ruins you need not behead me
for all your destruction has already
brought me to drown in my tears

I think you capture the thoughts of millions who fear to speak because the unprecedented evil leaves them afraid and speechless. It is the same vile evil of mankind that burned Alexander the Great’s library, burned innocence on stakes and books in Europe. It slaughtered thousands in the Balkans and now it grows like a cancer in our gut as we wish it would just go away. It will not. Only the proof of our humanity disappears.

What an excellent piece of writing. You demonstrate a great command of descriptive language without tossing your terms around superfluously.. Each word just “fits”

Outrage and helplessness are so eloquently expressed!!
I would just have to curse out of frustration with the ignorance and destructive tendencies/behaviors of others.

Speak, everyone. Thank you Paul, how can we sit back and watch the history of the world crumble in the rubble?

That was provocation. To forgo the last possible hope of forgiveness, yet we forgive.

I’m sure the murderer on the cross next to Christ thought that until he was saved. There is hope for even the most evil of man, because no one is as evil as God is holy and merciful.

Senseless destruction, but it shows their intentions entirely. Anything that doesn’t fit their exact mould is to be cut off.

More than that, someone needs to step in, but I can’t see anyone doing that till it reaches our own doorsteps, by which time it may be too late.

When I read the news that they have burned down those ancient books and manuscripts, that had me so upset. All of the knowledge of the past were wipe out just the same as if someone just erase the whole of my Memories … 😦
This is a true writing with true message

Paul – this such wonderful writing on a subject which (unfortunately) has not got enough press. Politics in the current world order doesn’t allow us to call a spade a spade. Until the whole of the civilised world puts their other differences aside and comes together to wipe out this cancer, I’m afraid our kids will see far worse.
May I direct you to two similar pieces I’ve penned – I trust you won’t/don’t mind!?

and now the coincidence of last night’s unimaginable terror in Paris will hopefully refocus the world on expunging this evil
