stealthy through fear
for the privilege of food
minkish king among
creatures who prey
upon porcupine
making his meal
of the monster
exotic of appetite
dining with daring
gives rescue to dignity
nicked by his doubly
erroneous name

Lovely ode to the Fisher Cat and very informative. Will be travelling into New England next week, who knows maybe I will be blessed with a spotting of one of these gorgeous creatures.

A grand poem my friend, I’ve just recently,learned of them, a friend saw one locally, they will eat domestic house pet cats too…..such a pretty beast…yet scary…they won’t back down and are aggresive I’m told….I now carry a knife in he woods, just because…

I’ve never known of this creature. He reminds me of one of my favorite characters in Just So
Stories, The Cat Who Walked Alone.
