in living our curve
as humans must do
asymmetrically
poetry functions
as tangent
touching some point
of emotion
along hypersensitive
bends of our soul
while prose
plays the secant
tying two disparate
thoughts into one
utile statement
of rational mind
Beautiful! As clear as a geometric truth!

Sometimes it depends on the author–in your case, I read through whether it’s beyond my ken or not. How nice to reach an age, and level of security, that I can be comfortable knowing less than others.

These words that just spill from your brain are always pungent and plangent and purposeful and perfectly articulated.

I Love this, Paul – I think there’s a particular magic in blending abstract thought and empirical fact; it engages different areas of the brain, perhaps. I took a science degree, then trained as a journalist, and I enjoy bringing both sensibilities to my poetry: it’s inspiring to see someone else making a beautiful piece of art from such hard materials as geometry. Great work.
