(I don’t normally work from prompts, but this one tickled my imagination.)
someone kind
someone gentle
whose dreams have no edges
whose skin bears no scars
no experience pained by
sharp corners of life
here lives someone who laughs
with big round belly sounds
sees the world with a settled
polite equanimity
wanting no special advantage
at peace with their
insular place in a circled society
feeling its comforting
sense of inclusion
of sharing
non-linear systems of
faith and philosophy
reverent with music of spheres
or perhaps the round door
simply leads down the
rabbit hole
granting uncertain asylum
to truly mad minds
Glad that it tickled your imagination. Beautiful poem resulted from that imagination.

A while back I read, maybe saw on TV (not sure) a chap making note of the fact he’d rather live in a cave opposite a beautiful building, and thus see said beautiful building each day rather than live there and never get to see its glory…your stupendous poem reminded me of this vague recollection.

I remember feeling exactly that way when I checked in to the spectacular Château Frontenac in Quebec – feeling I’d made a terrible mistake

I love the “best of all possible worlds” of the first version of who lives behind the round door topped off with a touch of earthiness by the mad inhabiter at the end.
