Abstract Sculpture by Alisa R. Tarpley
one look can lift hearts
a glisten of passion
can capture the moon
one look can break hearts
a glisten of sadness
can darken the sun
in the eyes of a lover
our perfect reflection
moves us to laugh or to cry
in the eyes of a lover
the evident truth of us
moves us to pride or to shame
love as an accurate mirror
takes in the emotional light
gives it back as a gift
an image sublime in its candor
an honest depiction of
otherwise private identity
It’s a mystery, what those who love us manage to see in us that we cannot see . . .
