“Turning the Paradigm” by Jon Cooney
paradigms come into vogue
shifting cultural mores
unsettling comfortable
patterns of social behavior
morality moved beyond reach
of consensus creating divisions
between hearts and minds
leaving bitter confusion
from too many factions
convinced of their personal take
upon things right and wrong
until everything under the sun
accrues sanction and nothing
is left to taboo save hypocrisy
thusly do cultures collapse
from the terrible weight and
sheer mass of subjectively drawn
codes of ethics that cannot but fail
to sustain a communal advantage
You know what they say about paradigms.

Once it took the Church to shift a paradigm; now it takes the Marketplace . . .

Interesting, I have a poem posted with that very same title – very different idea. It’s like a paradigm shift in the essence of paradigms. 🙂
