legions of menace

this dark frigid hell

fairly teeming with

cold blooded creatures

devouring skeletons

once fleshed with history

shells that once armored

integrity pierced and

picked clean by the beaks

of unspeakable dead-eyed

perfidious predators

rational free-minded reason

could never survive this

abyss of derivative dogma

and yet here lie eons of bones

from great masses of men

who came willingly

lured to the swim

by reflections of heaven

in all of its sunlit blue beauty

invitingly cast on the surface
