what is it the blind man
can see with his mind
might it be the perfection
we sighted can’t find

“We’re blind to our blindness. We have very little idea of how little we know. We’re not designed to know how little we know.” – Daniel Kahneman
Within each layer of our perception lies further mystery, compounding that which we have yet to decipher.

Oh wow. So true. Makes you wonder what they see that we don’t. Wonderful!

This hits very close to home as my daughter is going blind and is now taking classes at the Braille Institute. The atmosphere that prevails there contains infinite courtesy and kindness. Certainly, they are focusing on the positive energies.

so sorry for her affliction, but it sounds like she’s making the best of her situation

my guess is that there are as many blind/blind people as there are blind/seeing people; and as many seeing/blind people as there are seeing/seeing people . . . I think . . .

I often wonder what my colour blind youngest…the consummate musician, devoid of colours can see…sadly he won’t share his eyes.

the compensation, perhaps, is that he’s learned to hear colors

Had a friend in college who was legally blind. Went on to be Governor of NY. He saw well enough.

David Paterson I presume – Spitzer’s one decent decision

Yes, David is a sharp mind. I collected signatures for his re-election to state senator and found him a campaign manager while I was a security guard at the Studio Museum in Harlem across the street from his offices.

I have one blind eye and one that sees well. Not having depth perception gives me a lop-sided view of things. I can’t cut a grapefruit in two evenly or hit the (tiny) letters I intend every time while texting. My problem is one of adjusting. I am in awe of how the human body compensates. It is a wonder how totally blind people work things out.

as my glaucoma advances, I more and more wonder, too

Glaucoma is the underlying problem that caused my blind eye ten years ago. No one knows why my other eye doesn’t have glaucoma at all. Yours doesn’t stop the poet in you one bit. ❤

EYE appreciate the poem but disagree with the quote. I think The Human Mind is capable of infinite knowledge.
