a well-masoned conscience
a guard-towered gate
set in ethical stones
first defense against
hostile invasion
of social perimeters
holding back sieges
aggressions of civic iniquity
emanate hotly from
crazed seething hordes
shapeless creatures with
dominant left or right claws
in the thrall of debased
sightless ideologues
philosophically armed
shooting meaningless speeches
ballistic dull words
fired fervid haphazard
from shadowlands hidden
beyond the good pale
every mind for itself
in the ultimate battle of wits

“Ideologies have no heart of their own. They’re the whores and angels of our striving selves.” – John le Carré
Clever indeed…yet I would never expect less from you. I use the word a lot in the context of your works, yet once more ‘superb’!

Our new president does not know who he is, where he’s come from, or where he’s going; and he’s asking us to follow him! huh? He is no ideologue but merely an never`ending monologue . . .

you’re right – he isn’t – which is a big part of his appeal – it was the likes of sanders and warren I had in mind – I also think he’s known exactly where he was going from day 1 – ps: this battle between the hawks & pats is a real nail-biter
