no exit
from open-doored rooms
no bars
like the cage of the mind
no death
worse than living
no hell
worse than thinking
no pain
worse than judgment
no freedom
like stark isolation
society
is itself manifest torture
existence
perforce precedes essence
and truth
ah the truth
exists only in action
independent of anything
learned or believed
the moral decision
is ever and always
the only real act of creation
That image you chose is crazy amazing and foreboding in symbolism. Wow! Your last verse is truly a mandate for humanity to survive.

My favourite of the lot, not for academic reasons, more for common sense. I am so glad you have done him proud. An…or should I say, another…absolute gem of a poem.

Powerful words. True words. A friend and I were just talking about Sartre and “No Exit” yesterday.

Thank you Paul. Once again you have given words to things real and true in the world, all be they sad truths at times. I’m currently in the company of a religious zealot. One of my partner’s girlfriends. Needless to say, she did not want to listen… what can I say, she makes me feel uncomfortable… lol

it seems we all have the same challenge – to find our way through our own mind

Simple, but not easy. Just throw out all of the useless, painful stuff you don’t need but cling onto anyway.
