I can picture the animals
each at their industry
making new order from
remnant subservience
wasting no time since
the last two men living
died only that morning
the victims of mutual
homicide leaving the
million year reign of
humanity all but forgotten
by creatures evolved
with deep patience of
rectitude faced at long last
with the plenary gifts
of a world without war

Fine work, Paul. Direct and to the point. The collective ‘we’ are destroying ourselves as much as we are destroying our environment. The ‘our’ numbers increase only guarantees our final demise. I like this a lot.
