“Dance of Wildflowers” by Erin Hanson
blue damask skies
leafy green upholstery
bright flowered carpets
nature’s handiwork
a seasonal aesthetic
divinely designed
Stained Glass Window by The Vinery Glass Studio
stained glass gardens
humiliate real flowers
prismatic pieces
split rays of the sun
into factions of color
spears of morning who
penetrate petals
light bursting in blooms
upon patterns of
soldered seam joinery
lifting the life through
each intimate window
each mouth-blown
and delicate glazing
to place its artisanal
kisses on eyelids
who quiver awake
ever grateful for love
in the form of esthetic
affectionate gifts from
the generous capable
hands of a craftswoman
conqueror partner
whose heart captured
mine half a century
since and still now
more than ever her
tending and tenderness
making the all of my days
stained glass gardens

“Love Forest” by Jonas Gerard
campestral pockets
idyllic seclusion
small wildflower homesteads
constructed of pine-scent and space
tucked among unmarked
northern woods trails
quiet acres where creatures
commingle and contemplate
errant modernity

“My Abstract Floral Landscape” by Linda Monfort
they present
bouquets of bullets
to credulous quail
whose darting beaks
peck at pick up and pull down
insufferable insects and grinding gastroliths
from shallow mud puddled by shallower promises
never quite finding their gizzard’s desire
delectable larvae of inchoate truth
while politics’ counterfeit blossoms
discharge all their secret ballistic fury
on waddling unwary duped columns
explosions of plumage snowflake the air
some settle in improper diadem
on the worried white brow
of a passing old bald
mournful
eagle

“Flowers Grave Three” by Robert Hacunda
sunflower soldiers
sense defeat is upon them
give up the garden
(originally posted October 2013)
“Cherry Blossom Buds” – Photo from pinterest.com
tender budding shoots
imminent children of spring
nascent and crowning
(originally posted April 2013)
“Poppy Field IV” by Diane S. Dean
petals drawn
through warm blood
drip their sacrifice
staining pressed
peaceful lapels
with remembrance
of lives never lived
beyond wars
lost to exigent
perils of politics
fouled with aggression
demanding and daring
the best of our youth
stand and fight
for the principled
causes of liberty
each generation
has answered that
terrible call
rising tall
to the challenge
each time without fail
laid their beautiful
bodies between
right and wrong
in those reddening
fields where their
valor would seed
and volition
would propagate
delicate monuments
flowers for heroes
to decorate memory

arrange me with care
among mother’s gardenias

“Desert Dunes Sandstorm” by nagualero
tragic travelers
clamber among
desert dunes
vainly seeking
soft flowers the
thornless red
innocent rose
while forgetting
the garden lies
buried beneath
human histories

Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte
