“Corsica Sunset” by Leonid Afremov
sienna dusk folds itself
crumpling clouds along vast
orange seams briefly blazing
beneath the precipitous night
From my book Bohemian Scents

blue damask skies
leafy green upholstery
bright flowered carpets
nature’s handiwork
a seasonal aesthetic
divinely designed

sing the sundown
a refrain for the ages
your sky forever

“Every poem an epitaph.” – TS Eliot
“Dangerous Land” by Erick Sanchez
disheveled skies
precipitate uncertainty
storm cellars beckon

“Waterloo Bridge – Sunlight in the Fog” by Claude Monet
fog sits on my eyes
it obliterates truth
every place I can look
a miasma of gray
hides the blue of the sky
and the green of the sea
but I know they are there
the blue and the green
and the knowing makes
all of the difference

“Light Bearers” by Marina Petro
watch the night
when the days
turn to ugly
become friend
to the stars
when all men
turn to mean
disengage
from the tumult
that tramples
the peace
rest the mind
from the chaos
that conquers
the erstwhile
comfort of living
for such is the
best of the boons
of old age
free of duty
and debt to the
commonweal
come to the time
when all dues
have been paid
all the bones
have been made
and the cold
waiting ground
lies abounding
with patience
“Dawn at the Pond” by Karen Gillis Taylor
on the rise of a morning
impossible dreams
gather promise
as they lift from the
rumpled remains of a night
upon brightening bands
of an opportune sky
and the dreamer awakens
his future surprisingly cast
in array of new colors
excited by light in a way
never heretofore
hoped for or seen

“Winter Sky” by Cathyann Burgess
sullen skies leaden
with weight of a wintery
mood heartbeats ebbing
breath barely perceptible
biding invigorant spring

dreams born to fly
weaned from pedestrian breasts

Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte
