shriek at inhuman

inaudible frequency

penetrate matter

lase holes through

the bones of minds

living and dead

mark acutely

the genomes of

all cosmic creatures

yet to be born

with the warning

that even the sun

is disposed to

explosions of rage

to watch the eclipse

saved my eyes

from sharp vectors

that angle

with mischief

that small minded

short sighted

man in the moon

cosmic scamp

always wont

to upstage

fellow actors

embezzle their light

cut them down

to his stature

a parlor trick

played in an

unfurnished sky

for a few

puckish moments

pretending that he

is as large as the sun

the old radiant gold

of an ambient peasantry

given a somber new cast

beating slower and softer

worn to low burnish by

ancestral ashes of change

ashes laid down in layers

by weakening flames

of this elderly fire

sun descends through tall trees

a thousand glowing shafts

all at uniform angle of the hour

one mere glancing touch

by the circle of infinite time

guides these tangents of light

to my face to my eyes

all the warmth of the world

carried inside the promise

this day makes to no one but me

here alone in the hushed

summer church of my forest

composing my unspoken prayers

with the help of the light

that allows me to see

all that’s held in my heart

all the sins all the stories

the curves and the contours

that otherwise hide in the dark

of my chambered interior spaces

revealing the shape of my soul

the hemisphere tilts

with a nod to the sun

this slow moment

this tipping point

turning the temporal

path of progression

for one half the globe

in a wide warming

curve toward the

center of summer

tearing skin from their surf

with no motive or mercy

a random attacker

whose wings shadow continents

plummeting omens

dodging the freefalling sunrays

that otherwise burn

feathered flesh wounds

disabling the skill to devour

but no sun can save me

for I have already

been eaten

cold humors hot tempers

the split personalities

worn by colossus

resplendent in fiery aureole

witness of human events

bearing light upon history

leaving no secrets to men

all deceptions divulged

truth the everlast cargo

conveyed cross the skies

in his golden wheeled chariot

giving from morning to night

affidavits of testament

keeping the gods well informed

of weak progress strong pain

that attends the imperfect

performance of mortal free will
