“The Sea at Dusk” by Emil Nolde
evening rain whispers
diminuendo of day
gives voice to the moon
a melancholy music
in tempo of transition

“Cosmos in Rust” by Cherry Blossom Tattoo
there is beauty in decay
deconstruction of iron
reversing its founding
airy oxygen breathing
insinuates in among
densely packed molecules
breaking down elements
lifting improbable traces
of water and gas from
within heavy metals
returning to homeostasis
those cosmic ingredients
fused by the force of creation
a gradual dying
more properly seen
as a complex transition
a reddening process of
friable blooms lending
lovely new character
unto their host
in obedient statement
that physics perforce
converts old things to new
that the stillness
we see all around us
conceals a perpetual motion
a motion that hints
at the secret arcanum
all permanence
is but a human conceit
rising out of the wishful
impermanent mind

Sometimes everything has to be enscribed across the heavens so you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small, bright, and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. David Whyte
