pines give themselves up
to the gods of the skies
statuesque in devotions
drop seed cones like prayers
on soft needle-bed turf
tops in unison sway in the
clean breathing breeze
hands and arms held aloft
in the rapture of seasons
exchanging their liturgies
this forest a sacred serene
place of worship and wonder
four faiths tilt in turns
of elliptical reverence
respective in yield of
their own special grace
Would that we could all find a way to live together in one ‘oikumene’ . . . Utopian ideal, I fear . . .

another lovely post, thank you 🙂
I think of all the trees as raising their arms in worship… so right and good. I am a huge nature person and spend a lot of time in the forest, I feel the trees… I feel our connection to each other, so beautiful.

My best read of the day, Paul. Passionate, “pentecostal” and prophetic! Brings to mind the marvellous Wendell Berry’s “Timbered Choir”. Thank you. There’s truly an ecumenical breathing together here.
