I am pleased and excited to announce that Stonewood Press LLC has just published my 6th full-length collection of original poetry, “Bullets from Bones: Poetry of Conflict.”
Conflict is endemic to the human condition, war being its most terrible manifestation. This thematic volume of often wrenching poems reflects an enormous struggle between my celebration of fighting the good fight and my repugnance of war; between what I believe is a solemn moral duty to fully engage “just war” and the immoral squander that is all war.
Those who know my work understand that I always strive to write with an honest pen. A few of these poems are angry. I do not apologize for, nor do I moderate, my abject contempt for acts of terrorism and for those who perpetrate them. My reactive impulse for vengeance is sometimes stark.
This intriguing volume also includes riffs on more mundane types of cultural conflict, real and remembered or imagined.
“Out of the quarrel with others we make rhetoric; out of the quarrel with ourselves we make poetry.”
― William Butler Yeats
