forest doors
flung wide open
autumn brassy and brash
ousting summer
with a snap
in the apple-crisp air
red and gold
on their haunches
set and eager
to spring up and
climb through the trees
at the sharp
whistling signal
of old man jack frost
Absolutely stunning, Paul. Both painting and prose. Thank you. ❤

Wonderful energy in your words. I like the idea of saying Hello Autumn instead of good-by to summer.

What a great Hello to Autumn! The painting is stunning (super colors), and your poem crackles like leaves underfoot!
