when the
power grid fails
and batteries die
reconnect
flesh to blood
heart to mind
reacquire
intimate bonding
with nature
reemerge
as a man
among men
reengage
eye to eye
hand to hand
rediscover
your lost
self-identity
when the
power grid fails
and batteries die
reconnect
flesh to blood
heart to mind
reacquire
intimate bonding
with nature
reemerge
as a man
among men
reengage
eye to eye
hand to hand
rediscover
your lost
self-identity

Beautiful. I’m guessing this was inspired by a power knock-out in your area or on the news?

journeyman, perhaps

No journeyman that’s for sure…most of us require a number of words to achieve a stab at a half decent metaphor whereas in your work the mere stroke of the pen is all that is required

Humans a born to rediscover themselves even in a seemingly hopeless situation. Nice poem. 🙂

This brings back the memory of one such power loss during which one of my sons became more than a gleam in my eye.

and that reminds me of the NY blackout in ’65

Yep. My son was born in December 1965. Only my outage was a localized one in Cleveland – nothing like the gigantic one in NY.
