shut it down
click the locks
light it up
burn it down
spend your
plug-nickel words
on old whores
wrinkled déclassé
dogmas who
smell of Chanel
number five
as if stink can
be hidden by
bottled sincerity
play at debate
with affected
indignance beneath
sacred domes
so that even the
hollowest voice
mimics gravitas
soundbites that
tongue-lick the
glib echo chamber
continue to
strike at the
nerves of a nation
asserting your
treacherous tenets
just know that
come judgment day
Dante’s reserved
his ninth ring
for your soul

This is incredible prose, poem, fantastic. OMG. I love this and it is brilliant. So must reblog. You are brilliant and I have never read anything so amazingly true, yet still a prosaic masterpiece.

Paul, I used the old meaning of the word prosaic, when in reality, this work of poetry/prose is not at all prosaic but, I prefer the Roman/Latin meaning pre 1800’s. It meant beautiful prose. I swear I am from an early time in history.

Sometimes a 0-0 draw provokes a side to play with a little more finesse next time around. The question, from the outside looking in, is ‘which team that will be be?’ Thought provoking stuff in the game of Western/US politics. Yours, The Common Man – who can but sit in the stands and watch. A clever poem indeed.

I feel like we’re living that lyric
“Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.”

Desolation Row is the one that sits comfortably with current politics for me.

This is like watching two pitchers throwing a no-hitter at the same time for two bad teams and now we’re in extra innings..

A brilliant assessment of current affairs; and in its own way lyrical at that . . .
