party faithful
automatons
steal our
good faith
mugging trust
sleight of hand
misdirection
in each retail
handshake
each devious
pose struck
for lens of
the camera
sly insincere lips
drip with stale
dusty words
pious claptrap
when anxiously
clamoring ears
demand answers
when outraged
grieved eyes
demand actions
the commonweal
heart needs real
heroes not hacks
needs their pledge
to real truths
and this agonized
era of murder must
once and for all
be seized kicking
and screaming
by hands of
uncompromised
moral authority

final and firm
denouement
As with many proposed solutions, they don’t suit all. That, be it guns, Brexit or declarations of war, is the dilemma, yet the good souls are the last to heard. The word ‘end’ seems not to be in the dictionary of the ‘most’.

the solutions don’t have to suit all – just me *smile*

I often wonder if my own solutions would make the world a better place, or that the might signal the end of everything. It’s probably for the best that I’m not a politician.

Well said! Until politicians stop being controlled by big business and financiers we will have this problem.

Have we grown more aware of the lies or are the lies just so much more blatant and partisan?

both, I think – with the latter, the former should naturally follow – as for me, I lost faith in all pols a long time ago

Gone are the leaders who dream of being heroes.

Strong and eloquent words much needed today. And far preferable to what comes out of my mouth when I finish reading the daily news.

I LOVE your genuine authenticity–the solution only needs to suit you, and those who agree with you 🙂 I’m curious, do you watch Mike Huckabee’s show?

only occasionally – I can’t bear much exposure to anything news related, but always liked him

Well, it’s more of a variety show really–I can’t “do” news much either, and I don’t find the little that he shares to be over-much. I like his sense of humor, and of course, his values.

I agree – and he’s a musician, too

Yes, amazing! He recently talked about his impoverished beginnings–and how his life was changed, the Christmas his parents gave him an electric guitar (for which they spent a whole year paying). Music, and his parents’ investment in him, showed him his future could be much more than that what he and his family could expect from their lack of resources. Such a feel-good story–inspiring.
