“Perplexity” by Claudia Goodell
a riot of sameness
possessing illusions
at distance of difference
self-similar shapes
not of one two or three
but a fourth finely
fractioned dimension
right there just in front
of mathematical
Mandelbrot minds
but behind out of reach
of Euclidean eyes
here lies nature
evolved with
atomical symmetries
playful and modest
disporting in chaos
of quirks and complexities
finding itself more
predictable than it
intended revealed as
recursive of motion
and form adding
knowledge to laws
of quantum disorder
taken together
the concept of fractals
annuls intuition
allows mathematicians
and scientists insight
to see the more sharply
events that are probable
giving philosophers
poets and painters
new visions of
all that is possible
From my books Human Waters and Legacies (vol. 2)
Wonderful write, Paul.

Love the picture! One of my favorite images is of circles circling upward or into themselves. Time pressing forward to peel past positions lost. Like a mountain there is always a destination; one a valley and the other reaches heaven.

Thoughts such as these always take me back to a book I first read when I was twenty, ‘Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance’. An improbable title for an appreciation of the harmony between science and art, the quality intrinsic to both and everything between. It pleases me no end to be reminded here of what thrilled me on first encountering words that tuned so well with what I believed.

the metaphysics of quality – I remember hiding the cover when I was reading it on the subway to my office

I’ve done that before. Different book. Different subject matter. 😉

This one didn’t come up on my PC reader yet Shirl had it on her IPad. Both devices are run from the same hub…most odd.

And there in a nutshell my dilemma…I don’t understand WP or PC’s in part or at all!

The spiral is wonderful. Sometimes the non-verbal speaks better to me, a non-mathematical soul. Your poetry is amazing.
